    EMPHATIC PAIN MEDICINE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME 2026–27

    Application for Emphatic Pain Medicine Fellowship Programme

    EMPHATIC PAIN CLINIC is a leading global academic community dedicated to innovative education in pain management, regenerative medicine, and spine care. In addition to organizing courses and forums tailored to diverse participants, we also support selected applicants through observational and hands-on fellowship opportunities.

    The Emphatic Spine and Pain Care Fellowship Programme offers the following benefits:

    Fellowship Selection Criteria

    Applicants for the Emphatic Pain Medicine Fellowship Programme must meet the following requirements:

    • Proof of qualification as a Medical Doctor, preferably an Anaesthetist, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist, or a related specialist.
    • A detailed CV including proof of training and demonstrated interest in pain management.
    • Two recent reference letters from professional referees.
    • Prior experience or exposure to pain management practice.
    • A copy of a valid medical practicing license.

    During the Fellowship

    Fellows are required to adhere to the EMPHATIC Fellowship in Pain Management Standardized Program and follow the clinic’s daily routine. Temporary leave must be approved by the Head of the Clinic. In case a fellow wishes to change their placement or exit the fellowship before completing the allotted duration, permission must be obtained from the Head of the Clinic.
    Fellows are required to actively participate in all camps conducted by EMPHATIC. They are expected to coordinate with the PR team in planning and organizing these camps. Additionally, fellows should take responsibility, with the guidance of faculty, to conduct thorough patient history taking, perform clinical examinations, carry out diagnostic ultrasound when needed, and prescribe medications whenever necessary.

    Curriculum

    The fellowship includes comprehensive theoretical and practical training in pain medicine.

    Core Education Topics

    • Anatomy
    • Introduction to Pain Medicine
    • Pain Assessment
    • History Taking and Clinical Examination
    • Pharmacotherapy
    • Fluoroscopy – Demonstration on mannequin and hands-on practice
    • Ultrasound – Basics, knobology, scanning techniques, sonoanatomy, sonopathology, demonstrations, and practice

    Specialized Modules

    • Head and Neck: Anatomy, pain pathologies, and interventional procedures with theory and mannequin practice
    • Spine: Cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine – anatomy, pain conditions, and interventions
    • Musculoskeletal System: Shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle joints – anatomy, pathologies, and interventions
    • Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
    • Palliative Care and End-of-Life Care
    • Sports Injuries

    Additional Educational Activities

    Lectures
    Regular teaching sessions in Pain Medicine are conducted twice weekly, with active participation expected from fellows.

    Journal Club
    Held every two weeks to review important and recent medical literature. This helps fellows develop skills in interpreting research and understanding evidence-based practice in pain medicine.

    Interesting Case Presentation
    Fellows present notable cases every two weeks.

    Monthly Multidisciplinary Case Discussion
    Conducted once in a month by encouraging collaborative learning across specialties. 

    Post Fellowship Requirements

    At the completion of the fellowship, fellows must submit the following:

    • Fellowship Feedback Form
    • Fellowship Logbook
    • Fellowship Report 
    • Research Report or Publication

    Fellows will also undergo a final assessment, including both theoretical and practical examinations, to evaluate their performance and competency.
